Find Out Now! Can We Predict Your Semi-Final Winners?

Try Our Origami Fortune Tellers

Yeah, I hope you weren’t exactly expecting science. We will leave the data for another post! Today – I thought we could just have some fun. Back when I was in primary school… yeah the dark ages, we used to fold silly fortune tellers to predict our future jobs. Well I have ‘eurovisionified‘ them for you! Simply follow the instructions and you too can make your own!

Step 1: Print These Gorgeous Nets

Alas, we can only fit eight songs per semi, I went with the odds at Eurovisionworld.com. If your favourite in the semi isn’t here – chances are your runner up may well be!

Tip: Struggling to print? Right click on the image and then select “open image in new tab”. Then just print that page!

Step 2: Folding Time

If you have never done one of these before, never fear – it really is rather simple. We even have a handy video to take you through step by step!

  1. First of all fold and unfold along the dotted axis so you have your lines of symmetry.
  2. Fold in the four corners to the centre
  3. Flip the ‘fortune teller’ over
  4. Fold in the four corners here to the centre
  5. Push the four new corners together, creating flaps for your thumbs and index fingers
  6. Congratulations! You can now find out who we have predicted as your winner!

Step 3: How To Play

In order to find out the prediction simply:

  1. Pick your favourite of the four given colours. For each letter in that colours name open pull at the flaps. (pulling length, width, length, width etc)
  2. Then repeat with your favourite of the four numbers shown on the fortune teller.
  3. Finally, pick your favourite of the (potentially new) four numbers shown and lift it’s flap.
  4. The flag of the country we ‘predict’ to be your winner will be shown!

Step 4: Tell Us About It

So we probably got it wrong… But maybe just maybe, we found your semi-final winner! Either way, the world needs to know! Please feel free to comment here or on social media (we now even have a discord group)! And if you don’t like any of the songs… Repeat in a different language of your choice! Who knows this might be a great way to learn some Italian before we sit down to enjoy the contest!
