Welcome back to another weekly update, that round-up of Eurovision news to keep you in the loop on what’s going down in the Eurovision world.
Our first piece of news is that following on from some bands announcing tours last week, more Eurovision artists have also scheduled in tour dates for the coming months. These vary with covid restrictions in each country but for readers is many European countries (and Australia) there seem to be a number of concerts scheduled to take place. Have fun and stay safe if you are lucky enough to be able to attend!
Fan contests and various Eurofan driven events continue to spring up across Eurofandom social media, yup I’m as busy as ever juggling Eurovision activities and you can be too! On top of that the official Eurovision social media pages have been providing Eurovision themed fun (particularly around the UEFA Euros football) and have announced the return of Eurovision Again. Which year do you most want to re-watch? Hopefully that means more high quality official uploads of former Eurovision contests to the Eurovision YouTube channel.
Junior Eurovision is approaching and countries are now beginning to plan their entries for this year’s contest. Germany has opened submissions for contestants who wish to try to represent Germany. In the unlikely event you happen to be a German child who wishes to represent them at Eurovision, you can apply here. Meanwhile the Dutch selection is well underway and a short-list of four potential acts remains. The winner of these selections will join Portuguese singer Simão Oliveira (who was announced way back in April) in gaining their ticket to Paris’ La Seine Musicale for the contest. More countries are set to make their announcements on their participation status and how their songs will be selected in due course.
It’s another week closer to Summer, another week closer to more Eurovision and another week with a relatively small round-up! Thank you for spending your time with us at ESC Essence and if you have any comments feel free to share them below. Speak to you all soon.
